# Adapted to Synology 211+ for backup via SD-slot and filter on file type. # By Jan Eivind Stillingen in October 2011 So I wrote a script to replace Synology's original synousbcopy: The command will overwrite duplicates with the correct parameters. With this command, we can copy or move media files to a formatted folder structure. So no smart incremental backup.įortunatly, the Synology DS211+ support the command exiftool, a very powerful command to read and modify EXIF-information on mediafiles. Also, since each copy makes a new timestamp-named folder, backup will duplicate a lot of images, unless I empty the card after each backup. That means you can use this script in a Linux computer, MacOS, any other NAS working on Linux based system and even Windows with a Linux subsystem installed via WSL. The copy will make a folder with a timestamp-name, containing all the files on your SD-card (including system files from the camera, etc). This script is first writted to be used on a Synology NAS, but it will work on any System where bash and exiftool can be used. Perfect! Backing up photos and videos from my SD-cards, with just the touch of a button.well maybe not so. The Synology DS211+ has the ability to easily backup files from an inserted USB-drive or SD-card.
